Gmail Permissions

Web Dashboard / Chrome Extension - We ask for Gmail read-only permission to access data associated with email messages. This permission is used for providing email tracking functionality and we only store email data such as from, to and subject. We do not store email body.

Android Application - Mailcastr android application allows the user to access tracking data and it also functions as a basic email client. This email client functionality requires full access to the user's Gmail inbox. This access permission is only being used on the client side (User's own device). We send email metadata (from, to and subject) to our server only when the user uses email tracking functionality.

Gmail Add-on - Maiclastr add-on for Gmail requires access to currently opened email data. Add-on will check if the email contains tracking data embedded by Mailcastr and will display tracking data associated with that email. Connect to an external service permission is used to connect to Mailcastr server to retrieve this tracking data. Add-on will also request permission to access user's timezone information. This is to display tracking data, ie. time when the recipient opens the email, in user's own timezone.
